Via Apsyrtides Stage Race Rules

1. General information

1.1 The Via Apsyrtides Stage Race is a five-day trail running event across the islands of Cres and Lošinj, offering participants a unique challenge through diverse terrains while celebrating the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Kvarner archipelago.
1.2 The race will take place from March 1 to March 7, 2026.
1.3 The event consists of 5 stages, covering approximately 140 km with a total elevation gain of 2,200 m.
1.4 The race is organized by Remarkable Trail.

2.1 Age Requirement: Participants must be 18 years or older by the event start date.
2.2 Health and Fitness: Participants must be in good physical condition to safely complete all five stages. By registering, participants accept full responsibility for their participation.

3.1 Registration:

  • Registration is available through the official website.
  • Registration is confirmed only after full payment of the entry fee.
  • The event is limited to 200 participants.


3.2 Entry Fee Options:

  • Solo: €1,200
  • Team: €2,400
  • Relay: €2,200


3.3 Entry fee includes:

  • Accommodation in a double room with half-board.
  • Runners’ guide with key event details.
  • Daily transfers to and from race stages.
  • Medical assistance on the course.
  • Recovery meals after each stage.
  • Refreshment points during and after each stage.
  • Access to the hotel spa and fitness center.
  • Professional photo and video coverage.
  • Branded technical T-shirt and buff.
  • Branded 40L duffle bag for gear transport.
  • Evening briefings, award ceremonies, and daily video/photo recaps.


3.4 Refunds

  • Until 1 September 75% refund minus processing fees
  • From 1 September to 31 December 50% refund minus processing fees
  • From 31 December to 31 January 25% refund minus processing fees


3.5 Cancellation of the event
If the organizer decides to cancel event the total amount will be refunded.

4.1 Mandatory Equipment:

  • Fully charged mobile phone with the race emergency contact saved.
  • Hydration system (minimum 0.25 L capacity).
  • Trail running shoes suitable for technical terrain.
  • Weather-appropriate clothing.
  • Race bib (provided by the organizer) visible at all times.
  • Headlamp (mandatory for low-light or evening stages).

4.2 Recommended Equipment:

  • Trekking poles.
  • Sunscreen and snacks.
  • Reusable hydration cup or bottle.

5.1 The course follows the Via Apsyrtides hiking route and is divided into five stages:

  • Stage 1: Porozina → Cres
  • Stage 2: Cres → Martinščica
  • Stage 3: Martinščica → Nerezine
  • Stage 4: Nerezine → Mali Lošinj
  • Stage 5: Mali Lošinj → Mali Lošinj

5.2 The route will be marked with signs, flags, and reflective markers. GPS files will be shared before the event.
5.3 Deviations from the marked route will result in time penalties.
5.4 Categories:

  • Solo: Open to male and female participants.
  • Relay: Teams of two runners, splitting the five stages (one runner completes 2 stages, the other completes 3 stages).
  • Pairs: Runners must run together and cross the finish line together.

6.1 Refreshment stations will provide water, electrolytes, and light snacks. Participants are required to carry reusable bottles or cups to minimize waste.

7.1 An electronic timing system will track participants’ times across all stages. Timing chips must be worn throughout the event, bib number must always be visible and located in front of the runner.

7.2 Rankings will be based on cumulative times across all stages.
7.3 Separate rankings will be published for men, women, pairs, and relay teams.
7.4 Participants must complete each stage within the designated cut-off time, which will be announced before the stage.

8.1 Stage Awards:

  • Top 3 Pairs and Relay teams will receive sponsor prizes.
  • Top 3 solo runners (men and women) will receive money prizes.

8.2 Overall Awards:

  • Top 3 Pairs and Relay teams will receive sponsor prizes.
  • Top 3 solo runners (men and women) will receive money prizes.

9.1 An emergency contact number will be provided to all participants.
9.2 Participants are required to assist fellow runners in distress and report incidents to the nearest checkpoint or volunteer.
9.3 Medical support will be available at key points on the course and at the finish line of each stage.

10.1 Time penalties may be applied for (not limiting):
  • Deviating from the marked route.
  • Using any kind of mechanical transportation during the race.
  • Unsportsmanlike behavior.
  • Littering or damaging the environment.
  • Failure to carry mandatory equipment.

10.2 Disqualification may result from:
  • Endangering the safety of others.

10.3 The organizer will name a referee for the race who will be responsible for the correct compliance with the rules. 10.4 Disqualification won’t mean the refund of the registration fee (neither total or partial).

11.1 The organizer reserves the right to modify or cancel the event due to extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
11.2 Refund policies will be communicated during registration.

12.1 By participating, runners consent to the use of their images and videos for promotional purposes.

13.1 The organizer is not responsible for any injuries, damages, or losses incurred during the event. Participants compete at their own risk

14.1 Organizer may amend these Rules if he finds it necessary.

15.1 By registering, participants confirm they have read and agreed to these rules.
